Tirupati: Webinar held to discuss vaccines for Covid-19
Tirupati: The department of Applied Microbiology and Biochemistry in Sri Padmavati Mahila Visvavidyalayam (SPMVV) has initiated a two-day international webinar on Covid-19 pandemic research implications and prospective vaccines on Saturday. There were lectures from several international and national researchers. On this occasion Prof K Sandeep Prabhu of USA remarked the importance of selenium food and supplements for immunity. Prof Channa C Reddy, founder of Indus Gene Expressions explained the importance of Vitamin C in preventing Covid-19 while Prof Geetha Sharma of Osmania University focussed on anti-viral assays. Dr Lakshmi Narasaiah of Tel Aviv University explained the role of plasma therapy in Covid-19 treatment.
Dean, School of Sciences Prof A Jyothi noted the uses of Tulasi based products developed by the Rural woman technology park (RWTP) sponsored by DST in combating the virus. Over 200 delegates attended the conference which will continue on Sunday. Vice Chancellor Prof D Jamuna, Rector Prof K Sandhya Rani and Registrar Prof DM Mamatha congratulated the organising committee.
