Tirupati: Women should excel in science, technology: SPMVV V-C D Jamuna
Tirupati: The Vice-Chancellor of Sri Padmavati Mahila Visvavidyalayam (SPMVV) Prof D Jamuna advocated that women should excel in every field to wipe out gender discrimination. She spoke at the International Women's Day celebrations in the university. The programme was organised by Department of Women Studies in association with AP Mahila Abhivrudhi Society (APMAS).
She said that women have to participate in more numbers in the fields of science and technology and excel in the fields. Chief Guest, Tirupati IV Additional District Judge G Ramgopal pointed out the existence of inequality between men and women in science and technology. Tirupati urban Additional SP E Supraja assured the women students that Disha police stations will always work for the safety and security of them and anyone in need can approach the station.
Senior civil judge Ramachandrudu, First additional junior civil judge A Sobha Rani, Registrar Prof DM Mamatha, Deans Prof A Jyothi, Prof T Bharati, APMAS chief operating officer A Kalamani, Integrated Human Rights representative Sheela Lokanatham, in charge head of Women studies department Dr P Neeraja and others also spoke.
At IIIT Sri City
IIIT Sri City celebrated Women's Day 2020 with the theme "Women in Data Science and Women Entrepreneurship" on Sunday. Madalasa Venkataraman, Director (Data Science) at Oracle delivered the keynote address. Mathangi Sri, Data Head of Data at Gojek, rated as one of the top 10 Data Scientist in the country, explained the convergence of data science and AI & Machine Learning.
Prarthana Bhat, Senior Data Scientist at Progress Bengaluru explained further on the core of applications.
At RASS
Women self-help groups of Rashtriya Seva Samithi (RASS) celebrated Women's Day at Karkambadi in which about 2,000 women took part. SPMVV V-C Prof D Jamuna participated as chief guest and spoke on the women empowerment. Srikalahasti MLA B Madhusudana Reddy's daughter Pavithra Reddy, RASS president G Munirathnam and others spoke. RASS general secretary Venkatarathnam, Directors Nagaraju, Jayachandra Naidu and others participated.
