Tirupati : Yoga Day celebrated on grand note in pilgrim city

Tirupati : The pilgrim city celebrated the 5th International Yoga Day with enthusiasm on Friday. The participation was more this year compared to last year.

employees, said that everyone should make yoga as a daily practice to ensure both physical and mental health.

TTD run Sri Venkateswara Vedic University (SVVU) conducted Yoga class for its students to mark the World Yoga day in the university. Both students and faculty members participated in the programme.

Prof Muralidhar, who was the chief guest of the programme, said Yoga is union of body and soul and is an effective tool for a healthy living. In Sri City, young and old joined in the special yoga session held on the occasion of International Day of Yoga .

Various higher educational institutions - SV University, Sri Padmavathi Mahila Viswa Vidyalayam (SPMVV), Rashtriya Sanskrit Vidaya Peetham where its Vice-Chancellor Muralidhar Sharma led the Yoga programme in which students and faculty took part.

Deemed health University SVIMS also observed Yoga day.

Regional Science Centre (RSC) Here held various programmes to highlight the health benefits of regular practising of yoga. The celebration began with Yoga session followed by Yoga contest for children and general public. A poster exhibition on Yoga in the management of blood pressure was inaugurated by Col Ganga Sateesh, NCC Group Commander. NCC Head Quarters, Tirupati in the presence of Swami Anupamnanda Maharaj, Secretary, Ramakrishna Ashramam, Tirupati.

District BJP also observed Yoga day and conducted a yoga session in which party activists led by district president B Chandra Reddy participated.
