TTD mulling to take back Devalok Tourism Project lands?

Tirupati: Tirumala Tirupati Devasthanam is planning to take back its lands which were allotted on lease basis to others for development of various tourism projects at foothills of Tirumala.

Many institutions did not utilise the allotted lands for the projects. In this back-drop, the TTD Board is examining the possibilities for cancelling the lease agreement and take back allotted lands.

TTD Board members sub-committee has started exercise how to take back the lands officially. TTD Chairman YV Subba Reddy has directed the officials to examine the legal problems.

It may be noted that in 2014, the then Chief Minister Kirankumar Reddy had allotted 38 acres of prime land near Alipiri-Zoopark Road at the foot hills of Tirumala for construction of Devalok religious tourism theme park.

The company which got the lands did not come forward to construct the tourism project. They had built only a shed and abandoned the lands for the last five years. In fact, Develok Project company should complete the religious theme park within the scheduled period.

Similarly, TTD had allotted few more acres of lands to SV Vedic University and SV University too. TTD Board sub-committee is examining whether Vedic university lands were properly utilised or not. The sub-committee will submit a report to the next board meeting to take final decision on this issue.

According to sources, TTD is planning to build satellite townships to provide adequate accommodation to Tirumala pilgrims. TTD seriously examining the proposal to take back its allotted lands on Alipiri Road. Similarly, TTD's ownership rights over 78 acres of land in Tirupati town was confirmed by the Chittoor Inam Court, at present TTD estate department is studying feasibility to takeover this land also into their position.
