Two killed, three injured as car plunges into Vamsadhara canal in Srikakulam district
Srikakulam: In a tragic incident, two people killed in a road accident when a speeding car plunged into the Vamsadhara canal after it lost control on the late-night on Thursday.
In the crash, two persons died on the spot, and three others sustained injuries. The deceased identified as employees of the Coromandel Fertilizers in Visakhapatnam.
According to the police, Pawan (32), B Chandramohan (45) are working as area managers at Coromandel Fertilizers in Visakhapatnam. They have attended a meeting along with three others which held at Centurion University in Paralakhemundi.
While they were returning to Visakhapatnam from Odisha, the car in which they were traveling met with the accident near Gotta Barrage near Hiramandalam in Srikakulam district.
The vehicle lost control and crashed into the Vamsadhara canal where Pawan and Chandramohan died on the spot. Pawan is a native of Rajahmundry and Chandramohan belongs to Khammam.
The three others Venkatagiri Prasad, M Maheshwara Rao and S. Durga Naga Praveen suffered injuries. The injured were rushed to the hospital for treatment.
At the time of the accident, the water was flowing at a level of 9fts in the canal. With this, the officials have to close the gates of the barrage and initiated the rescue operations. On the incident, the police have registered a case, shifted the bodies for post-mortem and investigating further.
