In an exchange of fire between maoists and police at Andhra-Odisha border, two maoists were killed in the incident. Among the killed, one was identified as Mallanna, a member of the Maoist Party Area Committee while the other was a female maoist who has to be identified.

The SOG and DVF forces from Odisha carried out airstrikes after receiving earlier information that the Maoists were holding a meeting in the Singaram forest area near Egajansabha in the Kataf area. Twelve Maoists were reportedly present when police arrived in the area this morning. Two Maoists were killed in the crossfire and 10 Maoists escaped from the scene. The security forces carried out airstrikes for the escapees.

Meanwhile, the Visakhapatnam district police were also alerted. Security forces were deployed in the forest for the escaped Maoists as the area where the incident took place was near Chintapalli. Tensions were high in AOB as one Maoist was killed in a shootout ahead of the PLG weekly festivities, while two more Maoists were killed in a month-long counter-fire.
