Unity among trade unions stressed: AITUC
Anantapur: All India Trade Union Council (AITUC) general secretary Amarjith Kaur called upon all trade unions to unite to liberate the country from right wing elements and fascist forces ruling the nation under the guise of Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
Addressing a well-attended state-level AITUC convention celebrating 100 years of its movement, Amarjith Kaur said that the unity of all secular forces was needed to face the challenges posed by the regime led by Narendra Modi, who had surrendered this country to corporate forces. The AITUC convention corridor is named after veteran trade unionist Gurudas Das Gupta who passed away recently.
The AITUC was founded on October 31, 1920. Leaders like Pandit Jawaharlal Nehru, Nethaji Subash Chandra Bose, V V Giri, Chittaranjandas led the AITUC. She said Modi was destroying all that the leaders fought and stood for and regretted that the Centre is was handing over the crucial education and health sectors to private forces. She called upon the students, trade unions and the AITUC activists to fight the fascist government and liberate the country from right wing extremism.
