Upset with TDP’s defeat, ZP chief to quit politics

Chittoor: ZP Chairperson Girvani has declared on Tuesday that she will quit politics once her term ends. She expressed anguish over people not giving mandate to the TDP in the just concluded elections despite the ZP spending Rs 200 crore alone for transportation of drinking water through hired tankers in 60 mandals and deepening the borewells to mitigate the water shortage.

Speaking to The Hans India, Girvani stated that there would be no meaning to continue in politics despite the TD government introducing several welfare schemes for all sections of the society. The ZP chief declared that she will quit politics after completing her term on July 5, 2019. "I have successfully presided over all the general body meetings held in the last five years. I never gave scope for corruption in my administration nor opposition party made any allegations against me.

I am disturbed over the TDP's humiliating defeat. I have decided to quit the politics and want to serve the people through a different channel," she stated. To a question, Girvani said that she would quit active politics but to continue as a member in the TDP.
