Use toilets for preserving health: Minister Perni Venkataramaiah
Pedaparupudi: Minister for Transport Perni Venkataramaiah (Nani) said to build a healthy society, everyone should use toilets and maintain hygiene.
The Minister was the chief guest at a programme organised at the Zilla Parishad High School here as part of International Toilets Day on Tuesday. District Collector Mohammad Imtiaz, RDO Satyavani and others were also present.
Speaking on the occasion, the Minister said everyone should have awareness on the use of toilets. With open defecation, people are subject to various infections and diseases. The Minister said that though the district was declared Open Defecation Free (ODF), a few towns and villages are still used to open defecation and to stop it awareness should be created among the people.
He said that for construction of toilets the government was giving Rs 15,000. The minister told the students to maintain hygiene and wash hand before and after having food and after using toilets. The Collector said local bodies should take initiative to monitor usage of toilets.
