Vaccine dry run successfully conducted in Vizianagaram
Vizianagaram/Srikakulam : The Vizianagaram district administration successfully conducted Covid vaccine dry run at three hospitals on Saturday. Apart from Venkatapadma, a private hospital, district general hospital and urban health centre in Rajivnagar colony have been selected to conduct the covid vaccine dry run.
Around 25 persons were administered the vaccine and later they were kept under observation for some time to record their blood pressure, heart beat and other metabolic functions.
District Collector M Hari Jawaharlal visited all the three venues and directed the medical staff to follow every protocol before giving vaccine. He advised the doctors to provide additional beds and other medical facilities to the patients. He instructed the medical officials to be prepared to face any emergency situation.
Covid vaccine dry run was also conducted at three hospitals in Srikakulam district on Saturday. The dry run activity was meant for preparation for actual vaccination and to train concerned medical and other departments' staff to avoid any untoward incidents during the actual vaccination time.
The dry run was conducted at government RIMS Hospital, Srikakulam, Area Hospital, Palakonda and a private hospital-cum-medical college GEMS at Ragolu near Srikakulam.
On the occasion three category of rooms were arranged at the dry run spot which include a waiting room, vaccine administration room and an observation room.
Joint Collectors Sumith Kumar, K Srinivasulu, District Medical and Health Officer K Chandra Naik and District Surveillance Officer to monitor Covid cases, Dr Bagadi Jagannadha Rao, supervised the arrangements across the district.
Speaking on the occasion, the Joint Collectors and medical officers explained that initially the vaccine would be administered to 18,700 medical staff in government and private sectors in the district. Later, vaccine would be given to officials and staff of different departments.
Total 105 cold chain points have been set up for safe supply of the vaccine to all areas across the district after its arrival. Total 2,700 centres will be arranged to administer the vaccine to the people across the district in the coming days, they said.
