Guntur: BJP Guntur Lok Sabha candidate Valluru Jayaprakash Narayana came down heavily on Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu and described him as an 'opportunistic politician' and used the alliance with BJP only to get political mileage.

Speaking to The Hans India on Monday, he recalled that Chandrababu flayed Godhra riots in Gujarat in 2002 and during the 2014 elections, the TDP had alliance with the BJP and forgot about Godhra incident for joining hands with the BJP. After coming to power, Chandrababu justified Special Package announced by the BJP in the place of Special Category Status for AP and even the AP Assembly thanked the Centre for granting Special Package in lieu of SCS, he recalled. He said that Chandrababu even felt that the SCS was not panacea and felicitated the then Union Minister M Venkaiah Naidu for granting the Special Package.

Later Chandrababu started demanding for SCS to get political mileage, the MP candidate said and added that voters are watching him and would teach him a fitting lesson in the coming elections. He also recalled that Chandrababu back-stabbed his father-in-law NTR for the sake of Chief Minister's post. He also flayed Chandrababu for his failure in fulfilling the election promises and cheating the farmers and the members of SHGs. He urged the voters to defeat the TDP and elect the BJP candidates in the coming elections in the State.

He said the Central government has set up IIM in AP which was not mentioned in the State Bifurcation Act. The MP candidate criticised Chandrababu Naidu for spending funds for the construction of temporary Secretariat.

Jayaprakash Narayana said the BJP leaders and activists were conducting campaign and explaining the welfare schemes and development works taken up by the Centre during the last five years.

He alleged the local MP Galla Jayadev was not residing here and rarely visits the constituency. Jayadev has no idea on the problems of people in the constituency, he said. He rued though the Central government had given funds for the construction of Under Ground Drainage works they were not completed and road restoration work was not done properly.

MP Galla Jayadev did not take initiative and interest to execute works properly, he pointed out.

Narayana assured that he would take steps to construct an airport at Mangalagiri for the convenience of VVIPs who visit the state capital Amaravati and construct a central railway station also. He said that he would mount pressure on the State government and construct the Central Bus Station at Amaravati and develop it as the model Lok Sabha constituency.
