Value of books remain for ever: Vasireddy Padma

Vijayawada: Women Commission Chairperson Vasireddy Padma said that the 'Amma Vodi' scheme will enhance the role of mother in educating their children and benefit the generations to come.

She was the chief guest at the 52nd National Library Week celebration organised jointly by Krishna District Grandhalaya Samstha and Montessori Educational Institutions at Tagore Memorial Library here on Tuesday.

Speaking on the occasion, Padma said the value of books would remain same even after generations, books continue to impart knowledge, guide readers and share information. As parents are the guide to their children, books too are guides to people.

Mothers play a key role to educate their children and books act as a bridge between two generations, she said. She recalled that during the period of former CM Dr YS Rajasekhara Reddy, funds were allocated for the development of the Tagore library. She said that people should inculcate the habit of reading books.

Joint Collector K Madhavi Latha, former AIR director M Krishna Kumari, Montessori institutions president Dr A Sashibala, AP Grandhalaya Samstha general secretary Dr R Sharada and others were present.
