Vande Bharat flight from Kuwait arrives in Tirupati with 147 passengers
Tirupati: An Air India flight AI 988 from Kuwait to Tirupati has arrived at Tirupati international airport in the early hours of Friday. Total 147 passengers plus one infant have travelled to Tirupati who belongs to various places in AP and neighbouring states of Telangana and Tamil Nadu.
Of them 112 belongs to Kadapa district, Chittoor - 12, Anantapur 2, Kurnool 1, Nellore 2, Prakasam 1, West Godavari 2, East Godavari 6, Visakhapatnam 4. Another three passengers who belong to Chennai and two others got down at Hyderabad.
Since there are no immigration facilities in Tirupati, the process was completed in Hyderabad along with customs checks. Later they were brought to Tirupati. District revenue, police and tourism officials along with airport staff have made elaborate arrangements to welcome the Indians back home who were stranded abroad during lockdown. All safety precautions were ensured. The staff on duty wore PPEs and ensured physical distancing of the passengers is maintained.
They were sent to their places as indicated by them to place them under quarantine. They can opt for paid or institutional quarantine of their choice. Among them about 10-12 have opted for paid quarantine in Chittoor district while another six preferred institutional quarantine. District officials have arranged buses to transport them to their destination. District Collector Dr N Bharat Gupta, Airport Director S Suresh and other officials have monitored all the arrangements meticulously.
