Vijayawada: 3,000 Covid-19 tests to be conducted per day

Vijayawada: With Covid-19 positive cases increasing in the district and crossed over 1100, the district administration is taking measures to conduct not less than 3000 Covid tests per day in the district. For this 10 mobile testing centres were arranged in Vijayawada and other towns in the district. So far, 78,279 tests were conducted and 1132 persons were tested positive. The active cases in the district are 575 and another 514 Coronavirus infected persons were discharged from the hospitals. The Covid-19 infected persons are treated in three hospitals at GGH, Dr Pinnamaneni Siddhartha medical college in Gannavaram and Nimra college in Ibrahimpatnam.

Krishna district has more than 10 percent of the total cases registered in state and deaths are one third of the total deaths reported in the state. In all, 129 persons died of Coronavirus in the state. Krishna and Kurnool districts have the highest number of deaths in the state with 43 and 42 deaths respectively.

Corona suspects can visit the mobile (buses) testing centres arranged in Jaggaiahpet, Ibrahimpatnam, Nuzvid, Vijayawada and Machilipatnam. In Vijayawada these centres are arranged at Municipal corporation stadium in Ajit Singh Nagar, near Gunadala Mary mata temple, at Gandhiji Municipal corporation high school, at IGMC stadium and Krishnalanka. People can visit these centres to get Covid tests. Call centre is arranged with number 996311278 to register the names of the suspects suffering from fever, cough, cold etc. District collector Md Imtiaz on Wednesday conducted a review meeting with the officials and asked the latter to take measures to conduct at least 3000 tests per day.
