Vijayawada : Education minister Audimulapu Suresh on Monday said the names of the eligible students and parents for the Amma Vodi scheme will be displayed at the village and ward secretariats on December 16. He said Chief Minister Y S Jagan Mohan Reddy will launch the second phase of Amma Vodi scheme on January 9 and Rs 15,000 will be credited into the bank accounts of the parents/guardians.

Addressing the media at the Secretariat on Monday, Suresh said the Chief Minister launched the Amma Vodi scheme to see that the poverty should not be a hurdle for the education of children. He said the Amma Vodi scheme will be applicable to the students studying in the government schools, aided schools, unaided schools and government Gurukula schools.

He informed that 43,54,600 students studying Class I to Intermediate were benefitted in the first phase and Rs 6,336 crore was spent in this regard. The scheme will be implemented for the year 2020-21 for the students irrespective of caste, region, religion and in a transparent manner, he said adding enrolment of names started on December 10 and will continue till December 20.

The minister said parents should handover the Aadhar card, bank account number and ration card while enrolment of names.

He said that compulsory registration/update is held from December 10 to 20 and names will be displayed on December 16 at the village/ward secretariats.

Updated list of eligible parents/guardians will be available on Amma Vodi portal on December 19 and the final list will be displayed on December 26. Approval of the list by grama sabha/ward sabha will take place on December 27 and 28 and approved list will be provided to the head master/principals concerned through online.

The list will be furnished to the DEOs concerned by the MEOs and junior colleges principals on December 29 and finally, district collector will approve he list on December 30.
