Vijayawada: APSRTC invites bids for hired buses
Vijayawada: Andhra Pradesh State Road Transport Corporation (APSRTC) has invited bids for hired buses to operate as Express and Pallevelugu services. The bids are meant for 80 Express and 159 Pallevelugu services.
The Chief Traffic Manager of the APSRTC issued notification in this regard on Thursday. According to officials, the APSRTC invited bid for 31 buses in Anantapur district, 15 in Kurnool district, 27 in Chittoor district, 10 in Nellore, 4 in Prakasam 4, 22 in Guntur, 20 in Krishna, 31 in West Godavari, 65 in East Godavari and 14 in Visakhapatnam.
The tenders will be closed on December 17 and the auction will be conducted on December 20. However, the union leaders of APSRTC raised objections to the notification for hiring of buses. APSRTC JAC convener V Damodar Rao took strong exception to the notification.
Speaking to The Hans India, he said the corporation merger issue is yet to be completed. But how the government called for notification, he wondered. He recalled that they had opposed hiring of buses in the past. Such measures would deprive the youth of employment opportunities, he said.
