Vijayawada: Auto Nagar likely to open after May 17
Vijayawada: The members of the Vijayawada Notified Municipal Corporation Industrial Areas Service Society were assured by the district administration that the industries in the Jawahar Auto Nagar, JRD Tata Industrial Estate and the Industrial Estate and would be allowed to open after May 17 by relaxing the lockdown guidelines.
District Collector A Md Imtiaz, while addressing the delegation of the small-scale industrialists, said that necessary orders would be issued to the General Manager of the District Industries Centre in a couple of days.
The delegation of industrialists included Society chairman Sunkara Durga Prasad, Secretary Anne Siva Nageswara Rao, Co-option member JVSRK Prasad, Ponnam Sriram Prasad from Industrial Estate, JRD Tata IALA chairman Tatineni Vinod Babu, secretary Srinivas Prasad and Sunlight Metal proprietor D V K Rama Rao under the leadership of YSR Congress leader Devineni Avinash met the District Collector and submitted a memorandum. They stated in the memorandum that nearly one lakh workers lost livelihood in Jawahar Auto Nagar, the Industrial Estate and the JRD Tata Industrial Estate and nearly four lakh people were depending upon their earnings. The industrialists assured the administration that the necessary precautions like providing soaps, sanitisers, masks to the workers and thermal checking of them would be taken. They also said that physical distance would be maintained between the workers and only 50 per cent of the workforce would be used to run the industries.
