Vijayawada: BC Sankranti meeting begins, corporations chairmen and directors take oath
The Backward Castes Sankranti celebrations are being held on Thursday at the Indira Gandhi Municipal Stadium in Vijayawada. The meeting, which began at 10 a.m., was attended by the chairmen and directors of 56 BC corporations. Chief Minister YS Jaganmohan Reddy will be participating in the event shortly. Setting up of 56 BC corporations is an unprecedented move in the history of the country and the state. In the cabinet, 60 per cent ministerial posts have been allotted to SCs, STs and BCs and 50 per cent reservation has been given to SCs, STs and BCs in nominee posts.
The YSRCP government has set up 56 corporations for the development of backward castes and it is said that every welfare scheme will be implemented by corporations. Each corporation has 13 directors through which 2 crore 83 lakh 57 thousand BCs are getting welfare schemes with Rs 37,931 crore. In this context, all of them are conducting a swearing-in ceremony under the name of BCs Sankranthi. More than half of these positions are reserved for women. The event was attended by Ministers, MPs, MLAs, MLCs, Chairmen and Directors of BC Corporations. The police have made strict arrangements.
Minister Anil Kumar Yadav said that BCs are a symbol of trust. He said that the government has given a big boost to BCs and 50 per cent reservation has been made for SC, ST and BC in the nominated posts. He criticised that the past rulers have been neglecting the welfare of the BCs. "Jagan was hailed as the only CM who kept his promises to the BCs," Anil added.
While MLA Vidudala Rajani said that the credit goes to Chief Minister YS Jagan Mohan Reddy for setting up the 139 castes by setting up the corporations giving preference to women in the "BCs are said to be the biggest beneficiaries of welfare schemes. CM Jagan is working for the development of BCs and is the only hope of the poor and weaker sections," she said. Rajya Sabha member Mopidevi Venkata Ramana said that this is a golden chapter in the history of politics. He said that 56 corporations have been set up for BCs as per the promise given by Chief Minister YS Jagan during the Padayatra.
