Vijayawada: BCs protest cancellation of ration cards, pensions

Vijayawada: Members of Backward Class Federation of Andhra Pradesh staged a dharna here on Sunday, protesting against the cancellation of pensions and ration cards to several lakhs of eligible persons in the State.

The Association leaders demanded that the State government immediately conduct verification and sanction pensions and rice cards.

State chairman Tammisetty Chakravarthi, speaking on the occasion, alleged that Chief Minister YS Jagan Mohan Reddy had failed to fulfill the promises he made during the Padayatra. He said that the State government has cancelled the pensions of lakhs of people after conducting survey. He alleged that the government is also not constructing houses for the poor after coming to power.

The Federation State vice-president, P Shivaiah, secretary Tanneeru Suresh Babu, youth wing president V Ramu, Minority wing honorary president Shaik Gause and others participated in the protest.
