Vijayawada: Call to donate liberally for Sainik welfare
Vijayawada: State Sainik Welfare Department Director Commander MVS Kumar appealed to the people to donate liberally for Flag Day, observed across the country on December 7 as mark of respect to the services rendered by the martyrs and injured soldiers.
Speaking on the occasion at the Sainik welfare office here on Thursday, Kumar said that people should voluntarily come forward and give donations. He said the collected amount will be used for ex-army and martyrs' widows and to their dependants through welfare programmes like marriages, funeral expenses, educational scholarships, hostel fees and financial help to soldiers who are totally handicapped.
He said that the amount will be spent for ex-army families, and to ex-army people who do not receive any pension. He further said that every year government employees donate Rs 100 and Rs 50 as per their capacity to the Sainik Welfare Fund.
He appealed to all the people to extend their financial support by donating to the sainik welfare fund account directly.
