CBI begins probe into caustic social media comments against judiciary

Vijayawada: The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) here on Sunday started investigation into the rude comments made by certain leaders including the MPs, MLAs and former MLAs, all belonging to the YSR Congress party.

As part of the investigation, the CBI sleuths invited advocate V V Lakshminarayana who lodged a complaint first with the police against the caustic remarks in the social media to record his witness statement.

It may be recalled that the advocate filed a representation to the Governor demanding the discontinuation of Pandula Ravindra Babu as the MLC and not to allow him to take oath as the MLC.

He pointed out that Ravindra Babu made serious objectionable remarks against the judges and Chandrababu Naidu stating that they could not move a hair of the Chief Minister. Later, he also filed a contempt petition in the Andhra Pradesh High Court against the social media activists of the YSR Congress Party Dondedi Venkata Rami Reddy, Kishore Reddy Darisa, Balakrishna Reddy Kuthati and Jalagam Venkata Satyanarayana.

The complaint, which was referred to the State CID, was later transferred to the CBI by the High Court.

Subsequently, the CBI started investigation into the allegations by collecting evidence from the advocate here on Sunday at the CBI camp office in Vijayawada.

Advocate Lakshminarayana submitted further evidence to the CBI including the comments of other YSR Congress leaders Vijayasai Reddy, Nandigam Suresh, Speaker T Sitaram and others who passed reckless comments against the judges.

Lakshminarayana said that he had submitted all the evidence to the CBI and he was told that he would be asked to appear once again at a later date.
