Vijayawada: Corona isolation wards set up at GGH

Vijayawada: Government General Hospital, Vijayawada, has arranged two Corona isolation wards to admit the patients suffering or affected with coronavirus. Though no suspected case has been reported in Vijayawada, the GGH authorities are fully prepared to take admission and provide diagnosis to the suspected patients.

In all, four beds were arranged for the patients suffering from Acute Respiratory Syndrome cases and 12 beds were arranged for quarantine cases.

The GGH has drafted staff and advanced equipment for the diagnosis, collecting samples and conducting other tests. Dr. N Gopi Chand and Dr. G Suresh Kumar have been monitoring the two wards at the GGH. Dr. Gopi Chand told The Hans India that so far no case with symptoms of the corona was reported and patients visited the hospital.

Isolated wards have been arranged at the hospital to prevent the spread of the virus to the hospital staff or the patients. He said in case of suspected patients admitted to the hospital, blood samples, serum and sputum will be collected and sent to the lab at the Gandhi hospital for tests and for confirmation.

He said adequate medicines and personal protection kits covering from head to the toes are kept ready in the hospital for the doctors and staff. He suggested to the people not to get panicked with the reports in social media over the spread of decease with eating eggs and chicken.

Dr. Gopi Chand has suggested to the people to maintain a distance of six feet from others to not get affected in case of sneezing by patients affected with Covid 19 or coronavirus. He said it is better to wash off hands.

He said people can identify the symptoms for Corona with a continuous temperature of 100 degrees foreign heat and dry cough.
