Vijayawada: CPM demands 10,000 aid, essentials for people in red zones
Vijayawada: People residing in the red zones like Krishnalanka, Moghulrajapuram and other areas in the city are the worst sufferers and they should be provided with immediate help of Rs 10,000 and essential commodities, the CPM demanded here on Saturday.
CPM executive committee member Ch Babu Rao after meeting the people in red zone areas in the city said that the people in these areas are the real victims of coronavirus and they need immediate help. "The government should provide financial help of Rs 10,000 for the poor people in these areas," he demanded.
He said that though the government offices and commercial establishments were open in the green and orange zones, the employees staying in the red zone areas were not allowed to come out to attend the duty. Hence, they might lose their employment if they did not attend the duty, he feared.
Babu Rao said that instead of containing movement of people with the police force, they should be provided with essential commodities since they lost their livelihood. "The Coronavirus tests should be conducted extensively to detect the victims instead of making them stay home for weeks together," he said.
He demanded the Central government to bring down the rates of petrol and CNG to give relief to the auto rickshaw drivers.
