Vijayawada: CPM stages novel protest against Union Budget
Vijayawada: The CPM city unit staged an innovative protest on the Besant Road with empty baskets against the injustice meted out to Andhra Pradesh in the allocation of grants and privatisation move made by the State government in the Union Budget.
Speaking on the occasion, CPM secretariat committee member Ch Babu Rao said the Union government once again cheated the people of Andhra Pradesh in the name of the 15th Finance Commission. He said South India States suffered huge losses due to the meager allocation. He alleged the budget was introduced to privatise the Railways and recalled the government was planning to introduce private investment in LIC.
The CPM leader alleged no effort was made to increase the purchasing power of the people and improve the economic condition of the country in the wake of slowdown. He said the Central government is giving concessions to the corporate houses and ignoring the small scale industries. The party leaders and workers raised slogans against the BJP government and Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
