Vijayawada: Darshan stopped at Durga temple

Vijayawada: Darshan of Goddess Kanakadurga at Sri Durgammalleswara Swamy temple on Indrakeeladri here was stopped at 5.30 pm on Friday in the wake of the outbreak of coronavirus. Speaking to the media at the administrative office of the temple, Executive Officer of Sri Durgamalleswara Swamy temple MV Suresh Babu and Temple Trust Board chairman Pyla Somi Naidu said that the toll gate at the Ghat Road was closed at 5 pm on Friday and darshan of the Goddess stopped at 5.30 pm.

They said that the restart of the darshan at the temple would be announced later through media. However, the worshipping of the presiding deities at Sri Durgammalleswara Swamy temple by the priests would continue. Suresh Babu said that homams and recitations would be held on Saturday for the health of the people of the country.

Temple chief priest Vishnubhatla Sivaprasada Sarma said that the homams and recitations would start at 9 am on Saturday and continue till April 3. Executive engineers, deputy executive officer and others were present.
