Vijayawada: Durga temple Archaka tested positive to Coronavirus

Vijayawada: Archaka of Sri Durga Malleswara Swamy Temple (Durga temple) tested positive to Coronavirus on Wednesday and been sent to the Covid-19 hospital for the further tests and treatment. According to information, an archaka performing Lakshmi Kunkumarchana in the temple was tested positive.

Consequently, the temple administration conducted the Coronavirus tests to all the employee and priests. This is the first Coronavirus positive case reported in the temple. The temple administration is trying to find out the reasons why the priest tested positive to Covid-19 and what are the reasons for it. The temple administration is regularly conducting COVID -19 tests for the staff including the priests.

After the lockdown ended, the temple administration resumed Darshan for the devotees about two weeks ago. Thermal screening is conducted to the devotees at the entrance and measures are being taken to sanitise the queue lines and other areas in the temple. It is not yet known where the priest was infected with Coronavirus.
