Vijayawada: Dwaram Lakshmi enthralls audience with fine rendition

Vijayawada: On the valedictory of 'Gayakasarvabhouma' Parupalli Ramakrishnaiah Pantulu 137th birthday celebrations, classical vocal concert of Dr Dwaram Lakshmi was organized at Ghantasala Venkateswara Rao Government Music and Dance College here on Monday evening. Dwaram Lakshmi was felicitated and also conferred with a title Sunada Sudhanidhi.

A pleasant feeling was experienced by the connoisseurs after listening the vocal concert of the seasoned artiste like Dr Dwaram Lakshmi. It is a blessed occasion for the audience to witness the vocal and also dialogue of Dr Dwaram. The concert opened with varnam of TR Subrahmanyam composition "Vanajaksha".

The concert was followed by Deekshitar's kriti "Annapurne Sama" in Bhagasri ragam, Annamacharya keerthana "Valachi Vachiti". Lakshmi concluded the concert with a bhajan. Dwaram has a remarkable expression in voice and it lends an emotional touch of involvement in rendition.

BV Durga Bhavani on violin, BVS Prasasd on mridangam and M Haribabu on ghatam lent excellent instrumental support to the vocal concert. Earlier, the concluding day was commenced with Vasantha raga Varnam in the vocal concert of Burra Neelakantha Sastry.

He melodiously rendered the keerthanas composed by Thagarajaswamy "Marubalka" in Sriranjani ragam, Lalitadasar kriti "Pavanaguru" in Hamsanandini ragam and "entabhagyamu" the composition of Thyagarajaswamy in saranga ragam. Hemadri Chandrakanth supported with violin and K Adinarayana Sastry on mridangam.

In a felicitation meeting, Dr Dwaram Lakshmi, 'Nadasudarnava' Annavarapu Ramaswamy, music lover TS Ramachandra Rao, 'Sangeeta ratna' Pemmaraju Surya Rao and Dr Gudipati Lalitha commended the service rendered by Dwaram Lakshmi to promote music and a title 'Sunada Sudhanidhi' was presented to Lakshmi.

A humble and polite reply was delivered by the award recipient. The founder and secretary of the organization Modumudi Sudhakar efficiently organised the programme.
