Vijayawada: Eco-Air awareness programme begins
Vijayawada: Dr A Krishna Rao, CEO, Science City of Andhra Pradesh said that Eco Air is a youth interaction programme to create awareness on air pollution. This is the first of its kind programme in AP under mission Eco Next, a Central government funded programme.
The programme was organised by National Council for Technology Communication, Department of Science and Technology, Government of India and Science City of Andhra Pradesh, Government of AP.
A Science Exhibition on Eco Air and Regional Youth Interaction began here on Saturday. The five-day programme was organised at PB Siddhartha College of Arts and Science under the guidance of Dr A Krishna Rao.
The programme was attended by P Ravi Kiran from Singareni Collieries company Ltd, Dr Vasireddy Aruna, Assistant Professor, Siddhartha Medical College, Dr V Sailaja, coordinator to Eco-Air project and assistant professor of Zoology of Vikrama Simhapuri university, Nellore. They spoke on the occasion.
On the occasion P Ravi Kumar explained about air pollutions from various areas like mining, industries and vehicles which is the main cause of environmental pollution. He said that people do not have proper awareness on pollution and if public do not change their mindset no one can save this earth and environment. He gave the example of people living in Delhi and reminded incidents of fog in London and its result.
Dr Aruna, in her power-point presentation on air pollution, said that because of sound and environment pollution people would suffer from various kinds of diseases like cancer. She said using of plastic creates major health problems among the people. Reducing the usage of plastic can help to solve pollution and by using plastic a few creatures are at extinction and it is the responsibility of us to save the nature, she added.
