Vijayawada: Girls told to download Disha app for immediate help
Vijayawada: Home Minister M Sucharitha exhorted girls and women to download Disha app on their mobiles to get immediate help. She was the chief guest at the meeting organised by the Andhra Pradesh Mahila Commission to mark the anniversary of introduction of Disha Bill at Guntur Women's College here on Monday.
Mahila Commission Chairperson Vasireddy Padma, Telugu Academy Chairperson Nandamuri Lakshmi Parvati, MLA Maddala Giridhar, Mirch Yard chairman Chandragiri Yesuratnam participated in the programme.
Home Minister Sucharitha distributed Disha masks to the girl students. The masks were specially designed by Chinnapu Reddy.
Bringing awareness on Disha enactment, the speakers highlighted its salient features. Appealing to download the application, the Home Minister said that everybody should use that app. She suggested that the AP Police app, Abhaya app should also be downloaded.
The Home Minister said that the Disha enactment for the protection of women brought by Chief Minister YS Jagan Mohan Reddy was unprecedented. She said that 13 special courts would be set up all over the State for speedy trial of the cases under Disha Act.
She recalled that 18 Disha police stations, three Forensic labs with technical staff were also established. She said that it was only YSRCP government which provided 50 per cent reservations to women.
