Vijayawada: Governor Biswa Bhusan Harichandan speaks to CM YS Jagan on cases of illness in Eluru

Vijayawada: Andhra Pradesh Governor Biswa Bhusan Harichandan spoke to Chief Minister YS Jagan Mohan Reddy over phone on Tuesday and enquired about the status of the incidence of mysterious illness in Eluru in West Godavari district in which number of persons were affected and admitted to hospitals.

Jagan Mohan Reddy briefed the Governor that so far 467 persons were affected due to the mysterious illness and they were admitted to various hospitals and out of them 263 patients have recovered and discharged after treatment.

The Chief Minister informed the Governor that all necessary medical care was being provided to the affected persons on expeditious basis and a few persons requiring emergency medical care were shifted to hospitals in Vijayawada and said that the services of national-level Institutions such as National Institute of Nutrition (NIN), All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS), Indian Institute of Chemical Technology (IICT), Centre for Cellular and Molecular Biology (CCMB) were roped in to ascertain the cause of the mysterious illness. The Chief Minister said that these institutes collected blood samples and other required samples for examining and detailed reports are still awaited.

Governor Harichandan has requested the Chief Minister to take the services of specialist doctors and expert medical professionals as the Centre has given the assurance that all necessary cooperation will be extended to the State government to mitigate the situation.

The Governor informed Jagan to issue necessary instructions to officials to provide better medical care and treatment to the affected persons to restore their confidence in the action taken by the government by making all out efforts to come out of the situation soon.
