Vijayawada: Honorary doctorate awarded to Governor Harichandan

Vijayawada: Governor Biswa Bhusan Harichandan has been awarded the Degree of Doctor of Honoris Causa by the Desh Baghat University of Mandi Gobindgarh in Punjab in the 6th Convocation of the University held on Friday, by the University Chancellor Dr Zora Singh.

The Degree of Doctor of Honoris Cause was awarded to Governor Biswa Bhusan Harichandan by the University in recognition of his exceptional contribution to the nation under the faculty of social sciences.

The Citation described the Governor as a renowned writer in Odiya and an eminent scholar who authored many books and has been constantly engaged in creating awareness about the Constitutional rights of people.

The Citation also stated about Harichandan starting his career as lawyer in 1961 and his contribution to the development of Odisha, and has been elected as a Member of the Assembly for five times, three times consecutively, apart from being a Cabinet Minister in 2004.

Governor Biswa Bhusan Harichandan participated as the chief guest at the 6th Convocation of the Desh Baghat University at Mandi Gobindgarh in Punjab on Friday, at the invitation of the University.

Later, Governor Harichandan visited Fatehgarh Saheb Gurudwara near Chandigarh and offered prayers at the Gurudwara.
