Vijayawada: Improve infrastructure in Amaravati layouts fast says Chief Minister Y S Jagan Mohan Reddy

Vijayawada : Chief Minister Y S Jagan Mohan Reddy directed the officials concerned to evolve necessary steps to immediately improve the infrastructure required near the house plots to be distributed to the poor people of Guntur and NTR districts in Amaravati under the Navaratnalu scheme.

At a review on municipal administration and urban development on Thursday, the officials explained to the Chief Minister the steps being taken by the government to distribute house plots to about 50,004 poor people of NTR and Guntur districts in 1,402.58 acre.

A total of 21 layouts are being readied for the distribution of house plots for the poor, among which beneficiaries from the Guntur district will be given house plots in 10 layouts and beneficiaries from the NTR district in 11 layouts.

Officials further said that all kinds of measures are being taken to create infrastructure in these places. At present, forest clearance and land levelling works have been completed and works relating to laying of internal gravel roads for about 180 kilometre will also be taken.

Briefing about the other works being expedited by the officials, they told the Chief Minister that the construction of an additional building to the existing High Court is nearing completion. A new building is coming up with an area of 76,300 square feet and the necessary facilities for 14 court halls are also being provided.

The officials also explained to the Chief Minister the works being expedited under the CITIIS (City Investments To Innovate, Integrate and Sustain) programme in 12 urban areas.

Giving a detailed outline of the construction of TIDCO houses in the state, the officials told the Chief Minister that 1.39 lakh out of 1.5 lakh houses under Phase-1 of TIDCO houses have already been completed.

As many as 51,564 houses have been handed over to the beneficiaries in 30 areas and steps are being taken to hand over the remaining houses to their beneficiaries by June. As many as 1,12,092 houses related to the second phase will be provided to the beneficiaries between September and December.

Elaborate arrangements were being made for the distribution of 8,192 TIDCO houses in Gudivada by the Chief Minister during the first week of June.

During the course of the meeting, the Chief Minister directed the officials to pay special attention to the cleanliness of beaches in Visakhapatnam. Special machines required for this should be made available on the beach to remove the waste and improve tourism through beaches.

Apart from that, he also instructed the officials to beautify the river bed near the retaining wall built to save the Krishna river from the threat of flooding in Vijayawada.

Officials informed the CM of various beautification works being carried out on the river bed including the walking track. After going through the ongoing works, he told the officials to expedite the works at the earliest and provide a pleasant ambiance for the residents of Vijayawada.
