Vijayawada: Joint Collector K Madhavi Latha reviews paddy procurement

Vijayawada: The Krishna district administration has procured 4.55 lakh metric tonnes of paddy from 264 paddy purchasing centres, said Joint Collector K Madhavi Latha.

She conducted a review meeting with several officials of civil supplies department and enquired about the progress of procurement of paddy and payment to be made to the farmers. She told them that the farmers should not be inconvenienced.

Speaking on the occasion, Madhavi Latha said that the district administration has set up 264 paddy procurement centres and been procuring paddy from the farmers.

She said 99,024 MT of paddy purchased from 56 paddy purchasing centres in Machilipatnam Revenue Division, 1,01,796 MT paddy purchased from 64 centres in Gudivada revenue division, 1,05,192 metric tons of paddy purchased from 63 centres in Vijayawada revenue division, 1,48,290 MT paddy procured in Nuzvid revenue division limits this season. She said the government had paid Rs 670 crore to the farmers for procuring paddy against the payment of Rs 833 crore to be made. She said that 80 percent of the payment has been completed to the farmers till now and efforts were on to pay the balance.
