Vijayawada: Minister Velampalli Srinivas flays TDP for using fixed deposits of temples

Vijayawada: Endowments minister Velampalli Srinivas on Monday alleged the previous TDP government did not sanction funds for the development of temples in the State and instead used the fixed deposits of the temples for other purposes. He alleged the TDP government was in a spree of demolishing temples across the State when it ruled the state and now creating hurdles when the YSRCP government is taking up development works.

Velampalli on Monday unveiled the plaque for the extension of development works taken up at Sri Durga Malleswara Swamy temple atop Indrakeeladri.

The minister had Darshan of Goddess Kanaka Durga and Malleswara Swamy to mark the beginning of the Karhika Masam on Monday and said that he prayed for the wellbeing of people of Andhra Pradesh. He said after the YSRCP government took the reins, all the temples in the state are being developed and the government has been trying to protect the endowment lands in the State.

Endowments commissioner Arjun Rao, Durga temple executive officer M V Suresh Babu, Temple trust board chairman P Somi Naidu and board members, temple staff were present.
