Vijayawada: Minister for Endowments Vellampalli Srinivas and Chairman of Brahmin Welfare Corporation Malladi Vishnu appealed to the people to strictly follow the guidelines issued by the government to effectively contain the coronavirus in order to protect themselves and their family members.

Addressing a review meeting with the district officials at the Collector's camp office here on Monday, they said the people should maintain social distance to avoid the spread of the virus.

Referring to the lockdown of the State till March 31 announced by the Chief Minister, they said everyone should remain indoors unless it is very important. The Minister said the State government has been taking precautions to provide essential commodities along with the vegetables through Rythu Bazaars. Keeping in view the rush of people, the RythuBazaars would be shifted to spacious places.

He asked the vendors to sell the commodities as per the prices fixed by the District Collector. He said sufficient number of beds would be provided to the suspected cases of caronavirus and there was no need to worry.

It is highly irresponsible to move on roads though all the malls, cinema theatres, educational institutions and offices were closed. So far, the virus affected the foreign returnees, but now it may spread to their family members and others in the society if enough care was not taken, he said.
