Vijayawada: Online services reduce corruption

Vijayawada: Principal Secretary (Home) K R M Kishore Kumar said online services will reduce corruption and speedup the process of delivery of services to the public. Kishore visited State Disaster Response and Fire services (SDRF) department head office here on Wednesday where he inaugurated the online service of issuing Fire Attendance Certificate to the public. The department changed the mode of issuing certificates from manual to online system to speed up the delivery of certificates within 10 days of the fire accidents.

Speaking on the occasion, the principal secretary said the applicants need not physically visit the fire department office and can download online as per the rules and regulations. He congratulated the SDRF for modernising the services. He also inspected the fire department equipment at the office on the occasion.

Director general of SDRF, K Satyanarayana, said fire services attendant certificate is very useful to claim the insurance after the accidents. He said the certificates will be issued in 10 days with introduction of online system.

Referring to the services of SDRF, he said the department is sending multiple vehicles to combat the fire accidents and to check the spread of fire. He said the fire accidents are declining in the state over the years due to the awareness created by the department among the public. He said the department is offering short term certificate course to the youth and paying stipend of Rs 6,000 to train the youth to combat the fire accidents and reduce the loss of lives and property.

He said the SDRF is getting rich experience to combat the natural calamities and recalled the services rendered by SDRF team during Kerala deluge last year. Satyanarayana said the staff has also rendered services when cyclones Hudhud and Titli struck the state.
