Vijayawada: PCC chief Sake Sailajanath bristles at CM YS Jagan Mohan Reddy warning to Ministers

Vijayawada: Pradesh Congress president Sake Sailajanath described 'undemocratic' the threat issued by Chief Minister YS Jagan Mohan Reddy to ministers that they would be removed from Cabinet posts if they do not ensure victory of YSRCP in 90 per cent of seats in the forthcoming local body elections,

He said in a statement here on Thursday that the Chief Minister was completely unaware of the line between the Cabinet meeting and the party meeting. "It was nothing but dictatorship to set targets to the ministers and to tell them that they would have to go to Raj Bhavan to submit resignations if they did not meet the targets," he said.

Moreover, it was like giving them a free hand to do whatever they want to win the elections by hook or crook which may lead to misuse of the government machinery. He appealed to the Election Commission to take note of the instructions of the Chief Minister to the ministers.

It is the mockery of democracy if the Chief Minister issues such instructions to his Cabinet colleagues, he said. He asked Jagan whether he would resign if his party leaders indulged in supply of liquor and money to voters in the elections.

Sailajanath appealed to the Election Commission to make sure the elections were conducted peacefully and democratically.
