Vijayawada: Postal employees staged a dharna near the Head post office
Vijayawada: In response to the call given by the Postal Employees Coordination Committee of National Federation of Postal Employees (NFPE), the employees of the Postal department staged a dharna near the Head post office in one town, Vijayawada on Tuesday protesting against the policies of the Postal department.
Speaking on the occasion, the Committee leaders alleged that the Government has been harassing the postal employees with BD targets and for opening of new accounts. The leaders alleged that the Postal department has been harassing the employees and forcing them to conduct Mega melas from 5 a.m. to 10 p.m. in the rural areas and urban areas throughout the country.
The Union leaders B Sridhar Babu, R Madhusudhan Rao, Ch Vidya Sagar, Y V Achyuth Kumar said it was unfortunate that the circle administration failed to stick on the assurance given to resolve the demands raised by the Postal Employees JAC, which was given at the special meeting on January 1, 2020.
They said that the BD targets were increasing and a lot of pressure was being enforced on the staff to achieve these BD targets apart from regular work. They lamented that instead of decreasing targets the unrealistic targets to be achieved are increased enormously.
No development on the merger of post offices, no new post offices are re opened and relocated. The Union leaders demanded the postal department to reduce the work burden on the staff.
