Vijayawada: Security beefed up on the final day of nominations

Vijayawada: As the last date for filing of nomination papers for the MPTC/ZPTC polls concluded here on Wednesday, a large number of contestants rushed to the offices of the mandal development officers.

Tight security posted to prevent any untoward incident in the mandal centres. Festive atmosphere prevailed in the rural areas as the contestant with many aspirations and their followers and supporters went to the offices of the Returning Officers to submit the nomination papers.

In Krishna district, Krishna district superintendent of police M Ravindranath Babu conducted review meetings and instructed the police to be on high alert for smooth and peaceful conduct of local body polls in Krishna district.
