Vijayawada: Students told to develop competitive spirit

Vijayawada: Principal Secretary of School Education B Rajasekhar exhorted the students to develop a competitive spirit in the ever growing science and technology fields.

Addressing the students at the 'Srujanotsavam-2020' organised by the State Council for Education, Research and Training (SCERT) at Gollapudi on the outskirts of the city on Friday, he said that competitions in creativity were being conducted for the students in Srujanotsavam following the announcement of 'Science Day' celebrations. He appealed to the students to develop scientific temper and become good scientists in future.

Commissioner of Education Vadrevu Chinna Veerabadrudu suggested the students to strive for new innovations.

English medium special officer Vetri Selvi said that the Central government announced this year as the year of women in science. Women are also coming forward to go for new innovations, Selvi said.

She said that 52 girls and boys from the 13 districts participated in the state-level quiz competitions. The Srikakulam district secured the first place, followed by Krishna district second place and Kadapa and Anantapuram districts third place.

SCERT director B Pratap Reddy, Midday Meal scheme director A Subba Reddy, Model Schools Joint Director Prasanna Kumar, SCERT science head V Jayaram and others were present on the occasion.
