Vijayawada: Suraksha Sammelan held for RPF staff
Vijayawada: GM Eshwara Rao, IG and Principal Chief Security Commissioner, Railway Protection Force, South Central Railway along with Sachin Bhalode, Senior Divisional Security Commissioner, Vijayawada conducted Suraksha Sammelan to redress the grievances of RPF staff at Railway Divisional Auditorium here on Friday.
Addressing the media, Eswara Rao said that passenger safety should be the top priority apart from protection of Railway assets for RPF personnel and advised the staff to be vigilant, prompt and perform duties with integrity.
He stressed on need to increase the escorting of night trains to enhance passenger security. He said that RPF rescued 302 runaway children and handed over them to their parents and NGOs.
They recovered stolen properties worth of Rs 5.58 crore. Special Crime Prevention & Detection Squads (CPDS) have been formed at all major junctions and they apprehended 28 smugglers while they were transporting Ganja by trains and seized of ganja worth Rs 6.59 lakh.
He further informed that they retrieved 363 leftover articles worth Rs 91.43 lakh and handed over them to bona-fide passengers. Eswara Rao appealed to the passengers to avail the services of 182 Security Helpline to report any safety and security related issues on-board.
