Vijayawada: Trial run on Benz Circle flyover to begin on Monday
The Benz circle Flyover in Vijayawada is now ready and that the officials have decided to allow vehicles on the flyover from tomorrow. However, officials on the other hand are in proposal to hold trial run across the bridge for technical considerations before opening it for the public.
As part of this, the National Highways Department Director Vidyasagar and Traffic DCP Nagarajulu inspected the bridge on Sunday while the District Collector Imtiaz, city police commissioner Dwarka Thirumala Rao and other officials will inspect the bridge once again on Monday and will give a green signal to trial run.
The officials are expecting to inaugurate the bridge under the auspices of Union Transport Minister Nitin Gadkari in February after the trial run is completed.
Earlier, the bridge was planned to be built till Nirmala Convent. But the then CM Chandrababu Naidu and MP Kesineni appealed the Center to extend the flyover till hospital in the view of future needs and traffic congestion. The Center responded positively and allowed it.
The officials expect that the flyover would ease traffic congestion in the city. And it has also reported that the government has decided to construct a bypass road at Benz Circle with Rs 2000 crore.
