Vijayawada: Two-day BPS special mela from today

Vijayawada: Vijayawada Municipal Corporation (VMC) is conducting a two-day Building Penalisation Scheme (BPS) Mela to resolve the pending applications for the regularization of constructions. The applicants can attend the mela to be held on February 28 and 29 at the Council hall, where arrangements are made for the special mela. The BPS will conclude on February 29.

Municipal Corporation Commissioner Prasanna Venkatesh instructed the town planning officials to complete the works related to Building Penalisation Scheme.

Commissioner Venkatesh inspected the buildings in Suryaraopet, Governorpet and other areas on Thursday and instructed the officials to follow the rules accurately while regularizing constructions. He personally checked out the height and other measurements of the buildings.

He noted that a building owner has to pay Rs 46 lakh to the VMC. He further instructed the officials to check unauthorized constructions and keep vigil on the constructions in the city. He said the department of municipal administration is giving opportunity to the building owners for the regularization of constructions and help the building owners to avail the facility.
