Vijayawada:Plea to support Backward Classes candidate in DCI polls

Vijayawada: Backward Castes Associations have appealed to the State government to support a candidate from Backward Classes in the ongoing elections for Dental Council of India.

State BC Welfare Association president Angirekula Varaprasad Yadav and BC leaders said on Monday that there was a good chance to elect two members to Dental Council of India from Andhra Pradesh and they could support Dr Ambati Naga Radhakrishna, who hails from BC community and an active member in YSRCP for a long time.

In a press release, they said the State government has already nominated a candidate from OC category and there was scope to support a BC candidate for the second post. Varaprasad Yadav said BC leader Dr Ambati Naga Radha Krishna has already submitted nomination to the Registrar of NTR Health University to contest the election for the Dental Council of India from Andhra Pradesh.

He said one candidate is nominated by the government and another member is elected.

Varaprasad Yadav said Dr Ambati Naga Radhakrishna and his family are loyal to YSR Congress Party and taken up welfare programmes for the BCs. BC Welfare association leader N Appa Rao, State Bahujana Praja Chitanya Vedika president U Muralikrishna, BC Students Federation leaders requested the government to support the BC candidate in the elections.
