Vijayawada:Special drive to check violation of Motor Vehicle Act
Vijayawada: City police conducted special drive from June 5 to 17 and imposed fine on the vehicle users for violating Motor Vehicle Act. Use of black film on the cars is strictly prohibited by the Union government as per the central motor vehicle rules.
The city police during the special drive noticed 4,327 cars and other vehicles were using black films and collected penalty for violation of rules. The Union government banned using black films to the vehicles and made it clear that the windshield should be transparent and clear and it should be visible to outsiders. But, many car owners are ignoring the rules and using black films.
Similarly, the police identified owners of 2,979 vehicles who violated the Motor Vehicles Act rules and not been clearly writing the vehicle numbers on the number plates. The vehicle users were also pasting the stickers of film actors and other celebrities on the number plates.
The police also noticed that 310 vehicles have no silencers and imposed penalty for removing the silencers and creating sound pollution in the city. Interestingly, the police under the limits of the police commissionerate imposed penalty on 1,29,549 vehicle riders for not wearing helmet. The police are asking people to follow the safety rules and wear helmets.
