Tirupati: Once again Ramapuram dumping yard issue was raised by the villagers before the Tirupati Urban Development Authority (TUDA) Chairman Chevireddy Bhaskar Reddy here on Thursday.

Several of villagers came to TUDA office and met Chevireddy and brought the Tirupati dumping yard problem to his notice. They complained that for the last 20 years Tirupati Municipal Corporation (TMC) has been dumping 225 tonnes of waste every day near Ramapuram village forest area.

Due to massive dumping of waste, locals are facing severe ground water contamination and other health hazards, they said and added that 10 villages were affected with the waste dumping.

TUDA Chairman discussed with MCT Commissioner and gave assurance to the villagers that he will try to solve the problem within six months. The MCT has already taken alternative arrangements to recycle the waste from Tirupati city, he said. MCT Commissioner PS Girisha was also present.
