Violation of plastic ban to attract penalty
Rajamahendravaram: Municipal Commissioner Sumit Kumar has said that a fine of Rs 1,000 to Rs 10,000 will be imposed on the respective traders who sell or use plastic carry bags and related material in the city.
Speaking to The Hans India here on Tuesday, he said the ban on plastic was imposed to make Rajamahendravaram as plastic-free city to reduce environmental pollution. The special teams constituted for the implementation of plastic ban effectively will intensify the raids on fruit, juice, vegetable, cloth, kirana, meat, chicken shops etc in this regard.
The respective officials were also directed not to spare anyone in this regard, he said. He appealed to the people and business community to extend their cooperation to combat plastic menace in the city and advised the people to use cloth and paper bags.
