Visakhapatnam: 20 committees working to curb coronavirus: Minister Alla Nani

Visakhapatnam: Twenty committees are working in tandem to prevent coronavirus outbreak in Visakhapatnam, said Health, Family Welfare and Medical Education Minister Alla Kali Krishna Srinivas (Alla Nani) here on Tuesday.

Addressing the media, he said so far seven positive cases have been reported in the State and three cases have been registered in Visakhapatnam district which is considered to be in the second phase.

Citizens should follow the instructions of the government in order to keep the virus at bay, he mentioned. "Otherwise it will lead us get into the third phase which is community transmission," he said, urging the general public to cooperate with the officials in the lockdown exercise as it is the way forward to contain the spread of the virus.

Alla Nani appealed to those who came from foreign destinations to act responsibly and inform the government about their travel history. He underlined the need for them to adhere to home quarantine.

The Minister said over 1,472 people were identified as foreign returnees in Visakhapatnam. He mentioned that masks and coronavirus test kits were made available for the medical staff.

Taking a pot shot at TDP chief N Chandrababu Naidu, Alla Nani said, Naidu resorts to politicising even the coronavirus outbreak. He said that while Naidu indulges in such publicity stunt, the YSRC focuses on action-oriented results.

About the crowd management in Rythu Bazaars, the Minister said they will be run at nearby school grounds in order to facilitate social distancing.

Tourism Minister M Srinivasa Rao said the state government was considering every possible step to prevent Covid-19.

District in-charge Minister K Kannababu, VMRDA Chairman Dronamraj Srinivasa Rao and District Collector V. Vinay Chand were present.
