Visakhapatnam: 200 yoga practitioners take part in Surya Namaskaras in AU
Visakhapatnam: Marking 'Rathasaptami,' the Department of Yoga and Consciousness, Andhra University organised mass demonstration of 'Surya Namaskaras' here on Saturday.
Garlanding the statue of Patanjali, AU Registrar V Krishna Mohan said yoga was a useful tool for maintaining overall wellbeing. He inaugurated the programme by lightening the lamp and offering prayers to the Sun God.
About 200 yoga practitioners participated in the event. Head of the Department K Ramesh Babu, faculty members, yoga instructors, research scholars, students and non-teaching staff participated.
Meanwhile, the Department of Yoga and Consciousness is conducting two-week-long special yoga camp for weight reduction. The yoga therapy camp will train participants in various asanas.
The camp will begin from February 3 onwards and the timings will be from 6 am to 9 am and again from 4 pm to 6 pm. Different types of yogic methods, including asanas, pranayama and suddhikriyas will be taught during the camp. A dietician will share healthy diet options with the participants.
