Visakhapatnam: 2,000 navymen take part in Swacchta Health Walk
Visakhapatnam: Marking the conclusion of the 'Swachhta Pakhwada,' Eastern Naval Command organised 'Swachhta Health Walk' in the city on Sunday with an aim to create awareness about healthy living and maintaining a clean environment.
Flagged off by children in the presence of Chief of Staff, ENC Vice Admiral S N Ghormade, the Walk saw a participation of over 2,000 naval personnel, families and schoolchildren.
Ahead of the walk, Swachhta anthem was played followed by presentation of yoga asanas and display of motivational posters by Navy Children School students.
From INS Circars maingate, the Health Walk covered a distance of 6 kms to Sagar Kanaka Durga temple and back followed by plogging activity from Dolphin Hill maingate to Sagar Kanaka Durga temple. Over 200 kgs of plastic waste have been removed by the participants during the plogging activity.
The walk concluded at INS Circar with hasya yoga and troop games. Awareness lectures in residential colonies of naval personnel and defence civilian emphasising the importance of segregation at source and management of waste also formed a part of the 'Swachhta Pakhwada' activities observed from December 1 to 15.
